The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) requires every community water supplier to develop and implement a cross-connection control program. Part of the program mandates surveying all water customers in their distribution system every three years to identify and eliminate cross-connections that could allow contaminants to flow back into the drinking water from unsafe sources/connections such as fire protection sprinkler systems, boilers, lawn sprinklers and swimming pools.
This survey will be sent regardless of if the water supplier has current inventory of your assembly(s). The current law requires water suppliers to send survey questionnaires to ALL customers.
Information reported to the water supplier is critical for compliance with water regulations and to ensure no foreign or dangerous substances are introduced to the public was supply and no other direct or indirect connections to the potable water system are present at your property. This ensures safe drinking water for ALL customers.
Again, this survey will be sent regardless of if the water supplier has current inventory of your assembly(s). The current law requires water suppliers to send survey questionnaires to ALL customers. Thank you for complying with your annual backflow requirements and for filling out this mandated IEPA survey.
Simply check the box “None of the above” and finish the remaining questions of the survey. Then, click “Submit”. Your response will be collected and recorded to your water purveyor that you responded to the survey. Your participation helps keep your drinking water safe!
Backflow is the undesirable reversal of this flow of water and undesirable substances from the non-potable source to the potable source.
A cross-connection is any actual or potential connection between the public or consumer’s potable water system and any non-potable source or substance that present a hazard to the quality of the public or consumer’s potable water system.
